those are all seasons, right? so i'm guessing they're not so good in snow (better than the advans though), and also not so good performance wise, but they'll probably last a while. all seasons are generally regarded as being "decent" at everything, not good at anything. they may suit your needs though. just from looking at the tread pattern you can see it isn't as aggressive as any of the winter tires. if you can afford it and you do a lot of winter driving, a set of dedicated winter tires will be best
on another note, i still have my advans on and tried to drive in my front yard a little bit with the dusting of snow we have now and well, that didn't work so well, all 4 wheels spinning, i did creep forward slowly though

For those that don't want to lose TOO much cornering performance, the Yokohama AVS Winter tires do a pretty good job on the Evo. I've never wanted for more traction in snow, though there may be better choices for ice driving.
Besides having lower limits, most winter tires are less precise when at the limit. But, I don't think the sacrifice is very large compared with the extra traction on snow you get with these AVS.
I have to admit, though....it's weird to have a car that is quieter and rides better on the winter tires than on the summer ones!

Blizzak lm-22's in chicago was a blast.... better ride quality than stock, trade off being cornering isnt as crisp in the dry, but in the snow: controlled sideways fun. just know your limitations or you'll end up in a ditch. get a feel for whatever tire you decied on and slowly build up your technique. i am mounting mine this weekend, i wish i would have sooner cause it just snowed a little and i dont want to run the tires i have now in the snow... especially cause i dont want to get any salt on my pretty little SSR GT2's either. i tried out the conti all seasons and i have said it once and i will say it again. never buy those tires for an evo, if you have ever drove a rental car that is a Kia then you know what you are in for if you get them.

I live in Colorado and had first hand experience driving in heavy snow with the Avon m550s. They gripped the road/snow very well and allowed me to climb uphill in the middle of a snow storm recently. for the money I would buy them again for sure.

This will be my second season on a set of Dunlop Graspic DS-2's. They held up really well for the 5 months that I had them on last year. I hope to get at least 15-20k miles of winter driving on them, so hopefully 3 seasons or so.
They are extremely soft tires. Soft sidewalls, soft tread.
These tires are similar to the WS-50s. They are an ice and snow tire, period. They wont handle as well as an LM-22 or other more sporty winter tires, but they will get through anything. There were a couple days last year with 12"+ of snow on the roads and I could get out of places that my parents Ford Explorer got stuck in. I was pretty much running circles around most Jeeps and other 4x4s out there.
If you dont live in a snowy area, dont get these. However, if you get a decent amount of snow and/or live in hilly areas, they're great. And cheaper than the Blizzak's as well.

to the person who asked if I had the WinterContact or the ExtreamContact I just pull my wheels out of storage and they are infact the ALL SEASON extream contact.
That being said I called tirerack last week and I think I pretty much made up my mind on getting the WS-50 from Blizzak. They seem to be the best in the worst conditions but I curious to hear what the person in this post is talking about when he said he made a mistake purchasing those tires

I got Hankook Icebear W300's last year in stock size... Love um!!
Plus, they are only $109 a piece from Discount Tire. We had a winter storm last December that dropped 18" in 24 hours and the tires performed great. They ride well and still give pretty good feedback on dry pavement. For the money, I think they are superb.

on the side streets of chicago if you park there, you will need a good tire to pull you out of your spot...they plow and build up the snow around your car, then you have to either shovel out or break through... i would break through, i am lazy. as for the conti extreme all weathers... if this is the same tire i bought and returned, then the only way i would buy it again is if i was 75 and had a severe case of hemmroids..... sorry, its way too sloppy, like driving a kia.
