How bald can advans go before cording?
I've been monitoring my tire wear pretty closely over the past few months because my advans are finally wearing out. Before I did any track events, my tire wear was pretty even on all four tires. Now, after running at T-hill twice, I noticed both left tires' inside edges are worn noticeably more compared to the right. I'm am thinking this is due to turns 1 and 8 since they're really high speed left hand turns. For those of you who track a lot, which parts of your tires wear out first? The outsides right?
My previous alignment settings were -1.8 degrees of camber in front, and -1.3 in the back w/ 0 toe all the way around. I now have -2.5 up front and -1.4 in the back w/ 0 toe.
So how bald can the advans go before the cords start to show? The inside edges of my left tires are borderline bald right now, but still have a little tread showing. I'm hoping this is enough to last me through my upcoming track day. I'll be monitoring my tires throughout the day and will call it a day if it starts cording.

mmm i didn't have any special alignment but my bald rears were kinda missing htat ridge that connects the outter contact patch to the sidewall, and the outter contact patch was almost gone. after running through the same turn many times the driver side tire was more worn than the right but neither were close to cording.
the advans will not do well with cording though. my friend corded his advans and one of the cords starting rat tat tatting on his fender.

I've corded 2 sets of advans on the inside edge of the front tires with -2.8 camber. I would say the tires overall averaged about 1/32 to 2/32 when corded, with the inside edge being beyond bald. They go quickly though. Watch them carefully. I put the corded set on the back and run newer tires on the front.

hmm... here's a pic of the two tires in question. I put the tire w/ more tread on the inside edge in the front.
Front:
Rear:
It's never very easy to see through these pics.. but the tread is pretty low on the inside edges of each tire.. I'm gonna try to find another set of tires to bring to the track just in case these wear out.

mmm i had less... and i wasn't close to cording... but then i also don't know how close to cording i was... because i ended up selling the tires wtih the wheels. from the pictures i'd say you're ok... but of course don't take my word for it at all. problem is... i did most of my driving on the street and and although everyone will claim they're a badass the wear on the street was just simply not that of on the track, i did more in one day at the track than i had ever done on the street, even though i took that one turn enough times to wear one tire mor ehtan the other in the rear (there was more than one turn in this road of course but in this particular turn i could sustain a bit of slip angle and a nice hum from the tires, all that humming still barely took out any tire after a whole summer).

I've been monitoring my tires pretty closely since started tracking and to my surprise, they haven't been wearing as fast as I thought they'd be. I have a good idea of how fast they wear at the track, so I think I should be okay for my upcoming track day as well.

Those tires still look good *TO ME*
I've had much, much worse (i.e. chunks are disintegrating, tread lines literally disappearing) on the stock A046 before changing <--- having said that I'm not endorsing anyone to replicate, I'm just a cheap a$$
My tires' OUTSIDE wear noticably more but that's because my car sees a lot of track and very little normal road. Oh that and -3.0 front camber.

^^^ I agree completely. I've bought and installed used tires on my wheels that look worse than yours and ran them for many autocrosses and thousands of miles before cording. If you don't want them, can I have them???
