Lubricating brake shim

when applying the high temp grease while doing a brake pad install do you guys put grease inbetween the shim and pad or just use grease on top of the shim (the part that touches the piston?)

i'm trying to get around that dreading squealing.

TIA

Check out the how-to section on pad install. I can't remember off the top of my head but that thread is very informative.

i apply it everywhere on the backside, put a little coat on the back of the pad, and some more on the backing plate, and stuff it in there, no issues with squeeks.

(other than after a while, if i drive with the track pads on the street, they get nowhere near warm enough and i get a squeek there )

cool, thanks... i PM'd jemm and he basically said the same thing. When i do mine next week (waiting on the pads) i'm gonna lube all metal surfaces except the actually pad.

might as well get it done right the first time.
