Will 17x9 Wheels fit on An EVO 8?
Will 17x9 Wheels (Volks) fit on An EVO 8? Offset?
I saw the Bozz speed Evo VI in SCC had 9.5s in the frt. I would like to fit 255/40 - 17s on 9" wide rims with coil-overs w/o rolling the fender lips. I know 8.5" will fit, but would like a flatter contact patch.
Any help would be appreciated - Thanks!

With the current wheels, and offset, 17x8's come REALLY close to the wheel lip, however keep in mind that the suspension arc's slightly when it compresses so it may have more clearance when the suspension is compressed. I haven't officially measured the wheel backspacing to get the offset from centerline, nor have I taken a wheel off yet to measure the clearance to the inner fender (again, suspension arc could make it tighter than it appears) I'd be inclined NOT to change the wheel width, you can probably get away with a 255-40 series tire over the 235-45 only because it should be really close to the same outside diameter, and it will only be around 1/2" wider in tread/section width. However It may rub on a bump while turned to a full lock..
Now here's the big issue.. **WHO** offers a 17x8" wheel with the correct offset and bolt pattern.. I'm not going to get a 7.5 wheel because most tuner cars can't fit much larger, and I don't want to risk the 8.5" (though it'll probably fit) without carefully fitting it with tires, or someone else trying it.
Now to answer the other point about seeing 9" rims on other EVO series.. Its entirely possible there was more clearance on the inner fenders to allow increased offset for the bigger wheels.. But on the outside it definitely looks tight. On older evo's would have thought that there was a little less clearance than the current evo only because those flares looked more like a bolt-on afterthought than the flares that are on our cars. I obviously could be wrong though.

Well the SSR type-C will fit with a +30 offset. The SSR wheel that tire rack sells (GT3) is not sold in Japan. Only the one piece GT-1 is. Running a TE-37 is no problem. Run a 18 x 8.5 +30 offset. I plan on running the same TE-37 or the Yokohama TCII in white. The +38 offsets seem alittle much but will work but I wouldn't go with a 255/35/18 tire.
