Brake pads???

So I went in today for an oil change and the guy working on my car told me I have 25% left in the front brakes and 50% left on the rear. I know they still have some life left in them but when they do go out I'll need some new brake pads. So which brake pads would you guys suggest? I assume getting new stock pads are out of the question? The dealer wanted $1,000 for new front and rear brake pads are they really that expensive? Which aftermarket brake pads are good? I'm looking for something that stops better than stock, lasts longer, and something thats under $1,000. Thanks for the help!

Hawk HPS (don't buy plus) for long lasting and easy on the rotor. (minor track use is o-k)
Ferodo DS2500 (More expensive, heard alot of good thing about them)

I did my homework. Buy from http://www.raceshopper.com/
160-170 Shipped for Hawk HPS (That's both front and BACK)
They also have DS2500 for a lot cheaper price

That's the cheapest u can get and free shipping. Same stuff

Or www.importimageracing.com

What he said. And make sure you re-use your shims when installing the new pads.

You cannot go wrong with that combination. Raceshopper is fast and cheap and they even have some good advice about pad choice. If they would just carry Carbotech that would really round out their product range.

Yeah they are around 165 shipped for hawk (front +back).

700?! You just need to shop arount
Ferodo DS2500 is around 289 shipped, and the 2500 are the very best street pads out there. Both of these pads are better than stock pads.

I'm not a track guy, and i don't smash my brake @ 147mph
That's why I go for the Hawks (best bang for the buck, + it's reliable)

I have a unlimited amount of money to spend on pads so I want whats best but I still don't want to get ripped off. So Hawk v.s Ferodo ds2500 which one and why? Which one has the least amount of wear? which last longer? which one will stop me the fastest? sorry for all the questions and thanks for the input!

Are you looking for "street pads" or "race pads"?
Street pads are usually easy on the rotor. Race pads are harsher on the rotor, makes more noises but superior stopping distance and heat resistancy. If you track your evo often buy the race pads such as Ferodo Race DS3000.
*p.s. Race pads are not suitable for "street use" though.

Both Hawks and Ferodo are street pads. I say they are "limited" race use. Minor autocrossing will be fine. Stopping distance, i'll say the DS2500 is better. But the Hawk HPS will last longer than DS2500.

$$$$ is not the problem, then buy the Ferodo 2500. My point is that...for street use, Hawk is already good enough

btw these are my opinions.

I use the Ferodo 2500's for street & ocassional track days - Awesome for everyday street use - Very low noise. Be sure to save the shims
