Donuts anyone?!?

I drive like a madman and mine lasted 7K and looked just like that. You had to be driving HARD or doing donuts.

 

How many miles were on the car before/after you left it at the dealership?

lol yea thats what it LOOKS like...but good thing i was driving like any normal person would be.......

 

i'm pretty sure it doesnt have anything to do with them....i looked at my tires after i left the dealership and they all looked fine.....2 weeks later i find this... =\

 

That's how mine looked after about 11k miles. Sux...

 

Take the car to an independent wheel/alignment shop with the latest Hunter equipment and check the specs. I thought I had bad alignment on delivery... but to get that wear on the rears in 2 weeks is stunning.

 

Well in that case, either the toe is WAY off, or you were doing donuts and dont want to tell us

 

It's hard to say without being there to inspect all the tires and knowing all the details, but it does appear to be overinflation wear from those pictures. It would help if you had a tread depth gauge to measure.

How many miles total are on these tires and at what mileage intervals did you rotate them?

 

either they aligned it with 5 degrees of positive camber and + or - 1" of toe or the guy was doing donuts. rear tires on and evo typically wear quicker on the inside...

 

They only thing I've seen that wears tires that quickly with normal driving is toe.

Have your alignment checked by someone else. I had my car aligned at Mitsu once and the dumbass that was doing it never bothered to look up the specs. He tried setting all the cambers to 0 so in his words "You would get nice even tire wear". The problem with that is to get the rear camber to 0 it puts a sh*t load of toe out into the them which, will definitely eat up tires. Most of these guys get so hung up on camber they don't pay that much attention to toe.

If that's because of over inflation and only over inflation I will be amazed.

 

My guess is a REALY effed up toe, or donuts.

If your alignment was that far off, wouldnt you be able to tell??

 

i have never EVER even tried to do donuts in my car. The car only has 5600 miles...Im assuming its because of the toe just like most of you are suggesting

 

Okay, it's practically impossible for that to be tire wear or overinflation wear if the car only has ~6000 miles. That leaves the usual suspect of toe. I would concur with some of the other people here and take the car to a quality alignment shop with good equipment and have them do a before and after printout showing the specs on the current setup.

 

That is an amazing amount of wear... Is it possible that there could be some transmission problem? Rear diff?
