Why is no one running 245/35/18 on 8.5 rim?

Why is no one running 245/35/18 on 8.5 rim?
Everyone seems to be rubbing with 245/40/18 and 235/40/18 is the same as stock width. Would not 245/35/18 be a good compromise?
