19" Rim Performance
Hey guys, I really hate posting repeats, I did research quite a few different things trying to find out some more detailed info about how 19" rims can hurt performance in both power and handling but couldn't find all that much.
Basically I am looking into the J8's / J5's but want to know how bad it will be for my power / handling. From what I remember when I researched them in the past the rims weighed 25lbs which was a little bit more then the stock rims.
If I were to get the J8's / J5's would I really hurt my power or performance significantly, and I am talking more about daily driving then around the track or 1/4 mile times.

i wouldn't say it's just cause they are 19's, it's more that they weigh 25 lbs.

Volk makes a plenty of light weight forged 19" rims that are lighter then the stock 17s ... for example TE37 & CE28N

Will you notice it on the street? ... probly not much if at all. On the drag strip or road course you will notice it but if you keep your stockers you can always use them for track days.

What kind of difference will it make, I mean, if I were to be going around the same corner with the stock MR wheels, and then a pair of J8's or something at 25 or so lbs, what differences could I see?
Same with accel and decel? Decel I don't care too much about as I'm not a dozing off driver so I won't be doing too many crazy brakes anyways.

If you where shoot for #'s ... 1/4, 0-60, 60-0, etc you will notice a extra couple of feet and a few 1/10s of a secs different ... but on the street you wont notice much of anything except the transition from a 245 to a 235 tire .... shorter sidewall = stiffersidewall = difference in handling .
