Ferodo DS 1.11 and 2.11

Anyone has any info on availability of these pads? There's supposed to be.. well.:

Pad life is slightly lower than DS2.11. It is especially recommended for rally (WRC race proven), but is suitable for any other application where very high friction, bit and a rising torque profile are desired.
See: http://www.federal-mogul.com/afterma...Country=Sounds real good, but I can't seem to find anybody who stocks them. Apparently they were released in April or something, but no one seems to have any. Strange...

How are they? I have a lot of time for Ferodo and by the sound of it, these should be awesome. How do they compare with others?

I'm on Project Mu Level Max 900 at the moment and while they're rather extreme I'd like to try these at some point...

Do you know how they compare to others? Sorry to be a little demanding

For instance, are they like full-on race pads or more street? Had I known these were out, I would have orderd a set - I just ordered a set of endless CC-Rg...

they are for the people who drive it daily and track it on weekends. it falls right in the middle between street pads and race pads. most people on this forum recommend them.
for example, me and 2 other evo owners went to a local race track about 3 months ago. one was an 05 with stock pads and the other was an 03 with hawk hps pads. the 05 complained from faded brakes after 30 miles around the track (about the first 30 mins of racing) and the 03 complained from brake fade after about 50 miles around the track. i went 133 miles (2 full tanks of gas) around the track with zero fade. i drove off the track with no brake squeel.

elhalisf,

Well, it is no secret I'm a huge fan of the DS2500s for street pads, however, these look interesting. What concerns me is that they specifically state these are not for the street.

+1 on Zeus's post. From the read, these appear to be entirely streetable. I have no idea why they keep telling us they're not for street.

And just as an engineer, do they actually have any carbon in them? I had the - probably totally wrong - impression that the material transfer between the pad and rotor has something to do with the carbon uptake of the rotor from the pads etc which should have the effect of hardening the rotor surface. Now if these don't have any carbon or very little, I suppose they won't transfer on to the rotor which should mean less 'warping' effect but would that in some way increase wear on the rotor? Could this be why they're 'not for street'?

I'm just considering them for my daily driver, and would like to know the pro's and con's vs. the DS2500's from someone who has used them both.

I do share the concern about rotor wear...

if you want something mainly for street use only, check out the Endless Vita Nuova and Endless CC-A pads (with occassional spirited driving in mind).

Vita Nuova produces very minimal dust and easy on the rotors, and on top of this, its very inexpensive to replace. This is great for those of you compete your vehicles in shows w/ nice set of wheels. Keep the dust at the minimal. I have these on blow out sale.

The Endless CC-A pads slots in between the Vita Nuova and Ferodo DS2500s. I would say the DS2500s are 50street/50track pads for intermediate to advanced drivers while the CC-A is more of 65 street/35 track pads. The coefficent of friction of DS2500s and CC-As are quite similar, just that CC-A's MOT is slight lower than the DS2500s. In other words, CC-A is great for almost anyday street use while it also can tackle some occassional spirited driving when needed. these also produce very minimal dust and very friendly on rotors. I have these on blow out sale as well, please check my vendor f/s thread.

DS2500s <-- this is what i use and i love them very much.. enuff said always in stock as well

Before I pulled the trigger on yet another set of the DS2500s that I so love for my type of street driving, I wanted to get feed back on these DS1.11s. I'm sure I'll end up going with the DS2500s again as they are proven to me, and I already have been quoted a great price
