Has anyone driven an evo back to back with these springs installed on one and swift springs installed in the other?

I guess these are more pics of what the car looks like on these springs, eh? Looks pretty good if that's the case. I have a white IX that is on silver VIII wheels with stock Advans. I'm glad to see pics of what the car will look like on VIII wheels. The height looks good. Not slammed and not high-riding like the stock springs. It looks like a great compromise, expecially if the performance is there they way you say it is. I'm gonna try to put my springs on ASAP and give a write-up about my experiences with the RCE springs vs the Skunk2 springs (not my choice! they were on the car when I bought it!!!!!) currently on the car.

I'll be posting soon with before and after pics...

Yup, that's the same car as before but with different wheels (and much better tires). No problem stealin my internetz

So far probably only me really....that should change soon. Ours are firmer and taller. Less roll with ours, ride quality is pretty close.

I'm sure more reviews will be poppin up soon.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but how does it compare to a stock STi? I don't have any experience with a stock Evo. I know that I should just wait until I get my springs installed (which arrived yesterday) to see for myself, but I'm impatient! Admittedly, I'm a bit nervous about what I'm getting myself into because I've been burned by suspensions on other cars so many times. I'll try to refrain from posting until I have my springs on the car!!!!!!!! :-)

I will be installing the springs today and getting alignment done too. So I will post my thoughts on the springs and pictures. I got 18s on the car.

Not a bad question at all. Acutally I just got back from driving a customer's STi with the only mod being our own RCE Yellow springs on it that we produced last year.

So I'm able to talk about an EVO with our springs vs. an STi with our springs.....

Obviosuly, the EVO steering is more direct and the turn in is a lot better. Compared to a stock STi, where it's almost like, turn the steering wheel....and wait....it's just not the same thing. This isn't really news to anyone, plus the EVO has its quicker steering rack. And now with our springs, the EVO just gets better since it's not rolling as much as stock. Car reacts even quicker and does what you want it to. You don't have to program in sloppy steering into your driving technique, just point and go.

The STi with our springs catches up quite a bit in this area.....less waiting for the car to actually turn. You could maybe even call it tossable. BUT it's still not really at the same level as even the stock EVO, and definitily not one with our GTWorx springs, where the car just goes right when you tell it to.

So that's how the cars turn in, but the STi with our springs does have an advantage on corner exit. You can get on the gas earlier and it pulls you through a bit better since its torque bias is more rearward. Our STi springs have more rear rate then most other springs out there too....so it does very very well from mid-corner on to the exit. I wasn't pushing this customers car by any means, it's a bit wet out over here

The stock EVO isn't bad in this area, but you can get it to push without much effort. With our springs it's improved noticeably, and the limits are raised enough that you'll have to get used it. The front has so much more grip, so the balance is shifted towards neutral a bit. Not as much as our STi with our springs though. The EVO becomes very planted, without understeering. A little more confidence inspiring, easier to drive fast.

So all in all.....our springs on both of these cars brings them closer together. The weaknesses in both are strengthened over stock, while their strengths are further improved. Stock vs. stock, it's toss-up, and it's still probably is a toss up between the two with our springs on the cars.

Oh and the EVO dampers are better then the STi's. Even the non-bilsteins are a little better. Ride quality is nicer on the EVO with our springs compared to an STi with our springs, but part of that is the EVO seats are great compared to the the STi's (which are total crap).

Essay over.

These springs will fit on a MR without any issues? However much I love the drop on the swift springs I think these outperform them by far and I probably won't lose a $400+ front lip! =]

i just installed mine wed, getting alligned tomorrow, i am not the best of essayist, more to the point, so here is my current view of these (trying not be let bias or mood taint the next few paragraphs)

1. ride height -- definitely as advertised, so far not sure if these will sag or not
2. handling -- much improved, added response do to less roll
3. instructions -- not needed so much for the general install but i had difficulty figuring out which side is up on the fronts so i ended up using the writing on springs as guide so if the writing is up-side-down, please flip them (correct me if i am wrong)
4. weight of springs comparted to stock -- didnt weight them but for some weight savings freaks, it would be nice to know if these are lighter or heavier than stock
5. ride harshness -- they are definitely stiffer/harher riding springs over stock, but they dont bouce as much as stock so thats nice.
6. pointer -- you will definitely need spring compressor with these, unless you have a second person and HUGE tie-wraps to use as substitution for sc.

All-in-all i am very pleased, more feedback some other time

Thank you

Yes you are correct the words are suppose to be upside down , I had a hard time figuring it out as well, but if you read my little write up you will see how Miles helps me to make sure..So on we go

I want to thank you guys for listening to the Evo community and making the springs that we wanted

I got my springs last week, quick shipment and packing was great, I put them on this weekend and let me tell you the drop is perfect..everything went together really easy..

The ride is nice and smooth as stock but yet you get the benifet of haveing the car lowered.. the best part is when you start whipping it into corners, man its a night and day difference..

Now to the thing that impressed me and my best friend steve that help me install them, I had a question on installing the springs so went to pm Andrew or Miles, thats when i seen that he had his mobile phone number on the site..I figured why not try..Miles did answer the phone and helped me with all my questions..Now remember this is on a Sunday in the afternoon on his day off..Miles thank you for your help..

All in all i give RCE and GTworks 2 ...thanks guys..

Sorry to x-post this (I replied to I-Dom's other thread about these springs), but I figured that I'd post it here as well for others to see:

I-Dom-In-8,
Great to hear! I hope to get my springs installed within the next week or so. I was afraid of the higher spring rates (I estimate 296F/351R based on how Andrew described them as having rates about 10% higher than Swift springs...), but it sounds like the ride will be stiff yet completely acceptable.

I have a few questions for ya: How many miles are on the shocks that you are using? Does the printing on the both the front and the rear springs need to be upside-down when you install them?

Other reviews on the springs that I've seen have been inconclusive in my opinion. It's been established that the handling has been improved and that the ride height is good, but descriptions of the ride quality has been, well, not very descriptive. So you'd say it's decent and livable? I plan on putting a lot of miles on my car so I need the ride to be "decent". I'm used to stiff suspensions, but I won't tolerate bouncy or overly harsh - these words are so subjective to everyone's opinion I realize....

Thanks for any additional feedback!

~Steve

I have 33k on my 03, The printing is upside down on both front and back, thats the only way i was able to get them in..

The ride is stock like, when you cruising its nice, when you hit some bumps its a little harder then stock but not a lot..These springs are definitely daily driveable and i honestly think you wont regret it..

Have anymore questions please feel free to ask..
