Your solution:
1. sell evo
2. buy civic
3. slam, wing, sticker away..

So...Is there a spring out there that can lower the vehicle and maintain the stock handling characteristics, or would I be better off taking the plunge for a set of quality coil overs? My understanding is that unless you go through and set up coilovers properly (ie corner weighting), they will sacrifice the handling as well.

People who praise the swift/works springs aren't lying to you. I went with the Swifts for a temporary thing until I can spot the money for some full coilovers. The drop isn't "slammed" per say, but you can obviously tell the front has been lowered. The rear drop is minimal. Handling and ride quality are improved from stock. I can get pics if you need...

Shawnevo69,
Whatever you do ,don't get Tein S springs, it will ruin your car rapidly. It destroyed the front tires of my Evo 8 MR within days, it blew my 4 bilstein shocks and it started to destroy my motormounts.
Not even the labor is worth, you will spent at least 3-4 hours of labor doing the springs.
Get a set of coilovers, now you can get them for $800-$900. I have Megan racing on my MR and I like them, you can drop the car as much as 70mm(nearly 3").
This is just my choice but do whatever you want. Remember, the springs will only give you one look, the coilovers you can adjust the height plus you have 32 dampering settings.
Good luck! Zeus is a good vendor and sells them cheap.
