Nail in tire w/ just 2900 miles on car? What to do?

Just found my car with a flat tire. Last time I drove it was 2 nights ago.

Found a big nail on the outer last row of tread towards the sidewall on the outside part of the tire ( near the face of the rim )

I have a few questions that I need help with.

I have 2,975 miles on new car. What should I do? Can I patch the tire? Do I need to replace all 4 tires !#!!?? I can't imagine spending 1200 on tires because of a measly nail.

Just have the tire patched from the inside and you're all good.

Do you have the extended warranty, because if you do you can get a new Advan from the dealership. I was told that by my dealership when I needed a tire.

Just get some Toyo RA1's when you need new tires, 160 each, and they are grippier than the advans. patch this one, if they (tire shop) says its safe to patch the tire. or take it to the dealership to see about replacing it. But it is a road-hazard, that sux.

A plug is a quick fix but not reliable. Patching the tire from the inside will fix the flat and last for the life of the tire.

You should be able to get that fixed but I am not sure because that is really close to the sidewall.

From that pic, just pull nail out and get a plug kit like everyone has stated. Keep your advans. They only last 12k miles anyway. good luck

Might need a couple tire plugs for that hole. I usually burn the ends to let the plus melt down to ensure a nicce seal

As long as you dont track the tire youll be fine.. You probably need to patch it from the inside just to be safe.

I've had the same tire patched twice and plugged once. I'm beginning to think it's magnetic as it's the only one I always seem to "nail" (har har). All three happened between 4k-9k. At 19k still going strong and still on stock advans...

i had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM when i had 500 miles on my car (3 days after purchase)

call up Yokohoma (there's a lil brochure inside the owner's manual package with Yokohoma's numbers). tell Yokohoma ur problem...they MIGHT or might not replace ur tire for free.

for me Yokohoma gave me a brand new tire since i only had 500 miles on all the tires...they called around and found a American Discount IIRC and located an a046 for me

try it out mate, good luck.

i had a nail in mine at 2000 miles but luckily it was in the center of the tread... where that nail is i doubt if you can do an internal plug/patch because of how close it is to the side wall. I work at sears auto and have seen lots of damaged tires and that one looks like you better buy a plug kit and do it yourself or buy a new advan
