SSR Comp-H in 17x8.5 - why won't these fit?

Adrian called me today, and UPS had just dropped off the wheels (talk about fast service!). He confirmed with their diagrams and there is spoke to caliper intereference.

Since I also ordered some extra hardware for some previously purchased wheels from TireRack, I opened one of the packages up and took a look at the actual rim. The hub to spoke transition is too thick and gradually curved. No way they're gonna fit w/out spacers. Their guess is 10 mm spacers.

So kudos to Adrian and the Tirerack team for getting the stuff out to me so quickly. We knew it was a gamble, but for that price, it was definitely worth the shot. (I've purchased wheels from them before that they claimed wouldn't fit, but of course the did.)
They will certainly scrape with no spacers, but with small ones they are fine.
