possible obscure tire size?

would it be possible to run a hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212 245/40/17 on an Evo?...I know 235/45/17 is stock and some people are running 255/40/17...but on the stock VIII rims can you run the 245/40's and be good? I was thinking the Hankook is cheap and sticky...being a slight bit shorter than stock..that might help the soft sidewall...stock overall diamater is 25.3...with the Hankooks it's 24.7...

Thanks in advance

That should be no problem. I run Yokohama ADVAN AD07 Neovas in the 245/40R17 size on my stock Enkeis. I believe people run a 255/40R17 tire on the stock rims without issue.

how do the 245/40's ride compared to stock and does having the wider tire ruin the quick "turn in"?

IMO, the Neovas are slightly better riding than the A046s. The wear rating is almost the same - 180 vs. 160. I have not noticed any loss of grip - perhaps the wider size makes up for the small difference in the wear rating. Turn-in is still excellent. I run them at the track and for daily driving, and love 'em so far. They are holding up very well - 6 track days and a few thousand miles of summer driving, and they look almost like new.

245/40R17 have a lower load capacity than the stock tires. Not a huge problem typically, but if you load up the car to the max, you could have potential issues with the tires.
