255/40-17 Azenis RT-615...good hydroplaning resistance?
Hello Everyone,
Going to hit the track this weekend, and forecast promises showers .
Stock Yokohamas are slick-like by now . I was planning to get 255/40-17 Falken Azenis RT-615 but now not sure if they will provide good rain grip and hydroplaning resistance being 255 tire.
Should I stick to the stock size? 235?
Thank you!

I think they are good for daily driving in the rain but when I tried to get on it in the rain the one day, I broke all 4 loose. And around the onramp I tried to see how they would stick in the wet and not so good when pushing it. It was the first set of these I had so I just wanted to see what they could do. I would say they are not as bad in the rain as most make them out to be but would definetely not track the car in wet conditions with these.
PS: I have 245/45/17. And yes, 255s will be more likely to hydroplane than narrower tires.

I have the RT-615's and it's been raining lately... I've noticed on the freeway, I dont have much confidence, as they seem ti hydroplane a bit when you hit certain areas with more water (puddles, etc). Also, my car feels a bit unstable on the freeway when trying to go 70mph. I'd invest in a set of all season tires and a set of dry weather tires... I've broken all 4 loose in the rain several times already while going on onramps.

Well I have them and I used them even now. They are Great in the Summer after they are hot. They are good in the the rain but I don't think you should go crazy with any tire in the rain. They are Fair in the winter but once you hit snow. the only way to stop it to have an Anchor in the car with you. I mean it !!! 10 MPH I could not stop for S***T. It took me like 90 feet if not more.
