What lowering springs work best with the stock bilstein dampers on the 9 for sprint and track use?

don't want to go all the way with coil overs but don't know if there are any lowering springs that will improve the car.

You don't get "lowering springs" for "sprint and track use." YOu get them for lowering the car and the illusion of good handling. Please search for the springs that work best with Bilsteins, because it's been discussed many times.

Well that was part of my question.. Will handling be improved at all with just changing springs? I am after better handling at a reasonable price, not primarily the looks..

There are LOTS of different springs out there, some good, some bad, some absolutely terrible.

If your main goal is increased handling, then Swift Springs are the popular choice.

There are a lot of threads out there now. I'd recommend adding a rear sway bar and the Whiteline bumpsteer correction kit.

Thanks, and yes handling is what I'm after, if it won't be improved quite a bit I will not buy springs.

I have had a highly modded EVO V and don't want to spend too much money in aftermarket parts on this IX, that's why I'm thinking of going the easy route of just changing springs and tires and go to the track.

WORKS engineering in California has lowering springs designed for the MR Bilsteins. The drop is slight, but very beneficial to the appearance of the car, and they are more than willing to explain the design methodology, spring rates, and performance benefits.

Then would you consider a set of Megan Street or Track coilovers for $850 shipped? That way, you can dial in the car wonderfully for much improved handling, a nice daily ride, and the ever-so-wondrous side effect of the car being lowered.

Springs alone won't do much. Springs + sway + bushings will cost more than Megan Coils + sold Bilsteins.

Some of the higher quality springs will both lower the car and improve the handling. Eg: Swifts, Espelir, etc ...

My advice is stay away from cheap coilovers, their adjustabililty is over rated and doesn't really do much.

Swifts are good, but personally Im going with the Robi Basic setup which includes springs, rear sway and the bump steer kit like most have suggested. Robi used to use the espelir GT's on MR's I think, now he has his own custom springs.

Performance isn't everything Warrtalon, there things like comfort, ease of setup and ease of use that other people care about. Are you forgetting the hidden cost of proper coilover setup?

I think comfort can be dialed in much better with the coils than with static dampers. Ease of setup is obviously harder for the coilovers, because there IS a setup. With springs and sway, you just install them and get an alignment - nothing to setup really. There isn't much hidden cost to setting up the coils. You pay for the corner balancing extra - that's about it, but the benefits are far superior.
