245/40/18 or 255/35/18 ... which one?

Im stuck, I can't decide on which size to go with. Its a 18x9 wheel that will be housing these tires. The tires will be the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 and there is a total $20 price difference between the sizes.

My concern is that the 255/35 will have a much harsher ride and I know I don't want that, but the 245/40 won't look as good on a 9" will it compared to a 255?

I'm dropped on Swift Springs.

Any suggestions?

I have 18x9 and 245/40's and they dont look stretched at all. I would have gone with 255/35 but the tires I wanted didnt come in that size. 265/35 was next size up, and I was worried about rubbing since my fenders arent rolled. If the tires you want come in 255, I would go with those.

Well I was originally looking at the wedssport 18x9 sa-70s, but that turned out a little high for my budget so i opted for some Rota's.

I got some gunmetal 18x8 Tarmac 3's coming in. I wanted the p45r's in the +30 offset but that requires an 8mm spacer which I didnt want to mess with.

I've also opted for the 245/40/18 for the new wheels.

Stay with 245/40's if you want to run autox in the STU class.

I'd do 255/35/18's

A 245/40/18 would be a pretty tall tire I would think.

Stock height is 25.3

I say go for the widest tire that you can fit on the rim,no point in having 9" wide wheels if you're only going to run a 245 mm section width. The only reason not to run the 255 is if you're going to run into a clearance issue on the inside of the wheel by the strut ,but even then you could still run a spacer. FWIW the ride difference between the the two different aspect ratios is hardly noticeable.
