Having trouble removing OEM brake lines

I am trying to install some SS brake lines on my EVO VIII MR and cannot find the right size wrench to get the OEM one off. The banjo bolt on the caliper is not the problem, its the bolt on the other end. A 10mm is too big and a 9mm is too small, what gives? I even tried standard sizes with no luck. Is there something I am missing here? Is there such thing as a 9.5mm wrench or am I just retarted? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is a 10mm. Try using a line wrench

Okay. Thanks. At least I know I am not crazy lol. The standard 10mm has no grip at all before it starts stripping the head.

Brother, I feel for you. Doing the same thing. Cannot get the right front loose. I have a line wrench with vise grips over the top. Still no good. Going to cut it off. The line is only $12.52. That's cheep enough that it isn't worth my time to make a new one.

^^^The right front is my problem one too lol. Haven't even tried the other corners. Good idea on just cutting it, I may do that as well.

A 10mm Flare-Nut wrench with a backup crescent wrench is all you should need.

Looks like I am going to my local auto parts store for either some new tools or new line material. Whichever I can find easiest lol.

The fittings are made of soft metal so that they will deform and seal. It is difficult to get them loose without rounding corners no matter the wrench used. So, I use a tiny pipe wrench. The fittings don't look pretty when you are finished but the pipe wrench works.

^^^Good to know. Thanks. I decided to try the rest of the lines today and I was only able to get the left rear off.

A flare nut wrench WILL NOT round off the fitting...that's what they are designed for.
