Keep in mind the overall diameter of a 255/40/18 is significantly larger than the stock Yokohamas. 255/40/17 are about the same diameter, so of course if you go up an inch in rim diameter and keep the same aspect ratio and tread-width...you are going to end up with a taller tire...

255/40/18, 255/35/18, or 265/35/18 are probably the best choices. Considering 255/40/18 and 255/35/18 are difficult to find in a decent tire, I would suggest 265/35/18. Any rubbing issues caused by the extra width would most likely be the similar to the rubbing of the skinnier but taller 255/40/18...

Wow, and I thought the AO-46s were bad. But how do those KDWs perform in that size compared to the stockers as far as grip and feel?

Im running the bridgestone potenza re01-R's. I would have went 255/35 but couldnt find any tires I liked in that size.

Also have a friend running 255/35 RT615's on his 18x9 RS's, and he rubs like crazy. He's lowered quite a bit, has rolled the fenders, and now cut them. Still rubs a little bit. So I got scared and went 245/40.
actually he's running a 255/40 and that's why he's rubbing. If he had a 35 he would probably be ok.

I run a Bridgestone REO-50A's 245/40-18 on my RC II's and I love em' Very similar tire grip with the stockers

I wouldnt say it was better than the yokos but they handle very well and thread life is very good on the BFGs. Also they have a lot of sizes?

I assume fendering rolling was necessary? Would fender rolling be necessary with 18x9 +29 and RE050A PP's 265/35/18?

Would it be stupid to get a 265/35/18 tread width 10.8" in the rear and a 245/40/18 tread width 9.8" for the front?

it's an AWD car not rear wheel. I would recommend not doing a mismatch set-up

But I was also thinking if a 265 will fit in the back without rubbing but not the front then why not go with a 265 rear and 245 front. If the 265 rubs front and back then there is no reason to do it. Can anyone tell me where the 265 rubs?
