How's the turn in compared to stock? How's the sidewalls? I like these tires especially the price. I just wish I could get a report on the 235/45/17. But then again I won't need tires till 2009. I still believe the stock 046 are the best tires on any 17 in rim.

BTW they look great.

Negative, you need to drive the RE-01R and you'll know the best street tire.

I'm also curious of this Dunlop, but the 200 treadwear just doesn't seem like it will hold up compared to an Advan or RE-01R.

That doesn't really mean much. The Falken is a 200 treadwear and they wear faster than than the "140" bridgestone, at least for me they did.

The treadwear is the best indication of grip.

As for the Falkens wearing faster, I believe it and it's strange how well the RE-01R wear for such a great performing tire. I've ran mine for close to 4K miles, and more than 6 hours of straight beating at Gateway International, and I have a bit mroe than 7/32's left .

I absolutely love my RE01R's, I finally got them in stock size on my BBS...took long enough to get them. Somewhat wished I went for the 255/40 but in stock size I believe these already have as much and I think possibly more grip than the advans with better wear, quieter, and good in the rain. Not sure on the Z1 since I haven't drove a car with them but from preliminary reviews and the few people I have seen that have them say they are a hair wider than the RE01R's but lack the overall grip and get a little slippery at the limit (Theres a reason why most RE01R sizes are sold out...95% of all the autocross and track guys have them all )

Yeah I'm running a 245/40R17 RE-01R and it's disgusting how close these are to the Toyo RA-1's I was playing with before...

Here is a pic comparing the new Direzza Z1, RE-01R, Neova, and 615.

Some initial observations:
- The Z1 and the Neova are the widest.
- Using the super accurate thumbnail durometer, the RE01r felt the softest.
- The unmounted carcass of the Z1 felt at least as stiff , if not more so than an unmounted neova, tested by sitting on the tires.

Gunna run a different one on each corner and see how the car handles?

How the RE01R's sidewall feel compared to those other tires. Also do you have any experiece with the Z1's then...I am still curious about there performance.

The RE-01R was mounted to rim so I couldn't compare it to the other tires. The RE-01R is known to have a relatively soft sidewall.

I'll post once I get the Z1s on the car, looks like from the stiff construction and solid outside tread block it would make a good tire to take to the track without switching tires.

- Z1 tread width 9.5", 26.4 lb.
- Bridgestone RE01 is about 9.0" (if shaved down using more of the angled sides)
- Neova 9.5"

The tire seems responsive and firm. I took some at the limit corners and there was very little roll over. At first I thought the pressures were too high, but they were 34-32psi. Didn't even rub the outer block nubs off. Could be a durable track tire that won't chunk the outside edges. With the heavy mold release it's too early to say how much grip they have.

For the same roll-over, the various tire pressures would be approximately:

Stock Yoks 42+ psi
Bridgestone 38psi
Neova 36psi
Direzza Z1 33psi
