The tire seems responsive and firm. I took some at the limit corners and there was very little roll over. At first I thought the pressures were too high, but they were 34-32psi. Didn't even rub the outer block nubs off. Could be a durable track tire that won't chunk the outside edges. With the heavy mold release it's too early to say how much grip they have.
Interesting, I'll be adding these to my short list of tires to consider trying next summer. Keep us updated!

I've heard that Dunlop tires have historically had "cupping" problems. This tire is supposedly built by sumitomo for dunlop. I'm dying here because I have to buy tires in the next month. I'm between the re-01r and the z1....any info on the wear or issues on the z1 would be greatly appreciaited.
Thanks

Well if I were you I would buy the RE01R's. Talk to anybody that drives hard or goes to the track. It is pretty much the closest you will get to an R compound for a street tire and even has good road characteristics. I own them and will not drive anything else...I would go to say they are even better than the stockers overall.

You have an issue with picking between those two?

Open you wallet and ask it....

I would do the Z1 just to see how it is. Hell of a lot cheaper. I mean if the grip was less by 5% its worth it. It has to be a great tire and comparable to stock and the RT-615's.. A lot of folks on here said get the RT615's when I needed new tires and they are great. I am going to try the z1's next just because.

they are comparable... other than price..

I've only got a couple of days on them. The Z1s are a fun tire to slide, and there's not much understeer or mushy feeling like the 615s. Wear seems good so far.

I can't tell about ultimate grip until we get them under timed runs, probably early next month.
