alignment problem... again
#16
damn I am confused, what am I supposed to do? My car significantly pulls to the right on the high way, I know pepboys screwed up the last alignment but I am not sure what to tell them when I ask them to realign.
just wanna keep a regular decent tire for a while for my daily driving.

You don't have a lot to play with when it comes to the front suspension.
Caster is built in at the factory. It either is correct or is corrected by replacing parts.
Camber has two possible settings depending on how you insert the top nuckle bolt, -1 degrees or -2 degrees - sorta. The factory setting is -1. Now, if camber wasn't the same on both sides that might cause a pull. You should be able to eyeball the front wheels and see that they aren't leaning the same.
If toe is off it can do several things; make the steering wheel crooked, make the tires wear on the inside or on the outside or make the car unstable if toed out.
Finally, a tire with a thrown belt will cause a pull. Check for this by moving the front tires to the back.
I probably shouldn't say anything because people will be wanting to know how to do this. Toe is the most important setting for tire wear. Toe is easy to set at home with a trammel bar and this method is as accurate as any laser machine - probably more so depending on how much time you wish to spend. The problem with commercial shops is that they always want to get your car done in the least amount of time. So, they get the settings sorta close and call it good. Remember, most of these places sell tires.

I would not take any car to PepBoys for an alignment, much less an EVO. I've been through my share of bad experiences with alignment shops. Most of the time the techs have NO CLUE on how perform an alignment. I've been told before that rear camber is not adjustable on a dsm/gvr4, which actually is. I've seen them set the T4OE first then CAMBER when actually its the other way around. If you mention something they get mad and tell you to live them alone.
Took me a while find a place that does good work (5 years lol) but I'm very pleased with them. What I do before i go there is to write down the settings I want and I put a $20 bill in the settings note. It always gets done to perfection, and if for ANY reason at all I'm not happy I could go back and they will fix it for free.
my settings for the galant are:
TOE 0*front and 0*rear
Camber front -1*
Camber rear -1.5*

Everyone who buys a new EVO should take it for an alignment (or insist that the dealer check it & give a printout before you close the deal.)
Red is out of spec,
Orange is close to being out.
My new EVO came with;
Left Front
Camber -1.0
Caster 3.5
Toe .18
Right Front
Camber -0.6
Caster 3.8
Toe -0.23
Left Rear
Camber -1.2
Toe 0.01
Right Rear
Camber -1.0
Toe 0.08
