No, we're saying they are useless in the snow and acceptable in the rain.

so what is a good tire for cold weather, occasional snow, good dry traction, and reasonable price.

Warr,

Incorrect my friend.

The Advan AO46, in a 235/45/17 (stock) has a 25.3" overall diameter and does 822 revolutions per mile.

The REO1R in a 245/40/17 has a 24.7" overall diameter and does 843 revolutions per mile.

The REO1R in a 245/45/17 has a 25.7" overall diameter and does 811 revolutions per mile.

So the 245/45/17 is a much closer match to the stock tire size than a 245/40/17. The 245/45/17 is only .4 bigger, rather than .6 smaller, and does 11 less revolutions per mile compared to 21 more times.

I bought my car brand new and with the AO46's I did 4 track weekends and15,000 daily driver miles (yeah they were completely bald). The AO46's were loud after the 1st weekend at Road America running 2:41's laps. To currently,245/45/17 REO1R's with 2 track weekends at Autobahn with 1:41 laps on the south track. Still drive it to work everyday with very low noise and great comfort.

As for hearing about them, they're pretty new. Oh, I almost forgot, the REO1R's have 140 tread rating compared to AO46's of 160. The falkin doesnt even compare to these tires off the autoX track or on the road. The bridgestone is superior in the wet with the advan 2nd and the falkin a far back 3rd.

Ive also driven on 615's.

92gsx,

Even though it kills me to know you're going to mount all-season's on your evo, at least choose from these:

BTW, Nils with Robispec suspension and REO1R's (with many track days & DD miles on them) clobbered the street tire field at Buttonwillow this past weekend!
