Smile Rough ride/stupid dealership/stupid me

Here's a good one, and a word of caution that might help someone else! Replacing my stock IX struts/springs (14k miles) with MR struts/springs the other night (due to wanting a "softer" ride, as you will soon find out why), and noticed a large rubber block attached to two coils on either front strut. No wonder I had been having a "rough", to say the least, ride since I bought the car in Aug. of '06, the moron at the dealership that prepped my car forgot to take out the "lock" blocks from shipping so I basically have had no damping on my front struts(i.e. no coils)! I guess I am the moron who has been driving it for 14k, but who here looks at your struts unless you are working on the car with the wheels off, I just assumed it was a "stiff" suspension? Don't know how much better the MR's are to the stockers as I never got to experience the stock struts/coils as they are supposed to be, but I like my new "ride"on the Bilsteins! BTW, if you buy a car from Walker Mitsu in Dayton, make sure you check to see if "Corky" in service removed the coil locking blocks (or whatever they are called)! Flame away, we both deserve itI will be letting Mitsu know but doubt they will do anything about it, or frankly care at this point.

Mike

Mike holly S*** !!!
how was the ride with the lock blocks?
was it like riding on steel wheels?
when you say stiff suspension do you mean stiff like you would want for say auto-cross?
because maybe this would be the cheap mod i was looking for when doing auto-cross, a lot cheaper then coil-overs, don't you think?

man thats really funny, very sorry to hear that how was the ride really?, because I have no idea what the lock blocks are

ehh thats nothing , I was AutoXing with those blocks for 4 months and had the car for year and a half. My friend had 1 block left in the front right I think, since 2003. He took it out last year when we discovered mine, while preping the car for the race lolz

I have coilovers now, so its all good

Actually, 14k miles, but long enough Glad to hear I am not the only one this has happened to! Don;t recommend the set-up -- its like having struts without springs--not good for driveability, turn-in or safety, BTW, the car does not sit higher and you can't see the blocks til the wheels are off. Think I answered all ?'s Now I know why my wife complained so much

I assume you probably feel in love with her again now that you practically have a new suspension, now you can really feel what an EVO should feel like.

damn that blows. hope you let me have it, if not i would. Bring the blocks to em and tell em you want all new struts put on due to the damage it might have caused to the back ones. extra stress and all. Worth a try?

Had this happen to a guy we know as well. We were doing a downpipe on his car, and my friend Corey caught it while he was getting under the car. Ripped it out, checked other side and was there as well. Guy was like so thats why my ride is so stiff? lol. He was planning on buying coils too.

Prep guys at Mitsu suck **** haha. Needless to say, I checked mine that night
