Yoko ES-100s are damn good tires...

I wore out my Advans at just under 5K miles (lotsa autocross practice days). Plus I had gotten the 17x9" RPM2 rims, so the 235 Advans weren't a real good fit. Just dropped on a set of Yoko ES-100s, in 255/40 size. Excellent tires, especially considering the fact they cost only $112 each. Less road noise than the A046s, smoother ride, much better wet traction, and only a slight decrease in overall handling grip. They have a much deeper tread pattern, which is also very aggressive looking. The ES-100s seem to be designed for Porsche and BMW owners (people who normally manage to destroy their alloy rims through carelessness with curbs)... as in the tire has a larger rim protection bulge, actually overlapping the edge of the rim. Definitely recommend these tires if you are looking for a road worthy replacement for the Advans.

Yea, I posted awhile back on there tires. Have them on my OZ, they are great. If anyone needs to see the tread pattern, I have a pic under my car in the registry.

FM901s did not fare well compared to the ES100s in Tire Rack's tests. Good tire, but not comparable to the ES100. If you wan the Ultimate tire, go for the Pirelli Neo Zero. Lighter than all others in its class and runs parallel with the S03s. Stay away from BFGoodrich. Almost 7lbs heavier than the Pirelli.

Hey Todd, any ideas on how long the ES100s will last? I was wondering because I have them on my OZ Rally. Also, whats a good pressure in the tires, I was told 32 psi but that seems a bit soft....

Everything the S2000 guys say....is that they suck donkey *****. They have a much higher wear ratiing than the stock tires (the stock S0-2's of the S2000 and the Evo's stock tires), so they cannot possibly be close in dry grip.

I think the Yoko ES-100s are similar to the Bridgestone RE730's in specs.... and I do know first hand that the RE730's were awefull!!

If you pay for a performance car and you drive it fairly hard, why put hard plastic on instead of just spending the $ for decent tires?

Just my opinion.....

No offense there Scot, but pretty much every S2000 owner I have met has been a brass plated *****, so stuck on themselves and their "chick-magnet" car that anything less than perfection isn't worth thinking about. Porsche owners are more bearable in converstion.

The tires aren't a long way off from the stock A046s in grip, mainly due to a 20mm wider contact patch as much as anything else. Are they as good? Nope. Do they allow 4 wheel drift under hard cornering, yep. Kinda fun. Otherwise they are a heck of a lot quieter, smoother, and longer lasting for daily use. I have the Victoracers for go-fast times.

ahaha.. you just did not meet the right S2000 owners.

With a wear rating of 280 (your Yoko's= hard slippery plastic), not to sound like a dick, those cannot even be close to as sticky. Even it you squeezed an extra 20mm of tire width on the same size rim, you won't be getting much more contact patch.

I will not save a few $ on tires for this car to get longer mileage out of them..... I like to stick in corners, not slide.

Just my opinion.... But I doubt anyone would ever even do a test on those tires vs tires like the Evo's stock tires.
