Falken Rt 615 or Yokohama Neova?
Just wanted to see if anyone has used the Yokohama Neova on a track event?
I have been using the Falken Rt 615 for a full season of racing they are great but if theres better why not change... Just curious.

For the price you can't beat the Falken's although I've noticed the Yoko's don't heat up as quickly and stay more consistent throughout a track session. The Falken's work great for 1-3 laps before overheating. This is in socal so it might be different temperature wise were you live. cheers,

there is a 400$ price difference...I agree with eddie...the Falkens work great quickly where the yok's are more consistent. I'm currently looking at the Bridgestone RE-01r. grassroot motorsports magazine did a shoot-out between these 3 tires...the Falken was the winner for autocross..hope this helps.

RE01-R's was my choice, and I really like them. Priced a bit under the neova's, and tire racks test shows them as very comparable with the neova beating them by a super small margin.
The rt-615's do not compare to either tire imo. They are a great cheap tire, and good for drag racing. They are not a road course tire by any means.

I've heard the 615's overheat and get greasy pretty quickly on a roadcourse.
The stock A046's would probably be superior to all of these mentioned. I know they are more expensive, but if you don't mind used tires, usually someone is always dumping them off of a new car in the classified for a set of 18's.
I've tracked the A046's a lot, and liked them. They would eventually get greasy if I was really pushing aggressively, but this was pretty rare.

Grassroots just did the article last month and the RT615 was superior in every category, though only by a small margin. For the price difference you can't beat them. GRM showed the lap times on a roadcourse and while their fastest laps were in the beginning with the RT615s, those times were still better than the other two could manage during the entire session.

I will say this from personal experience having had both of these tires on my car and run both sets at local track events (in addition to my RA-1's on another set of rims) the street tires performed very well against a well driven R-compound shod car. The problem is that the street tires got greasy really quickly. Of the 2 tires the Neovas stayed more composed during the track session compared to the R-615's. Where the 615's went away after 3 hotlaps, the Neovas stayed strong up to 5 hotlaps before giving up the ghost.
FYI: I heard the 615's respond well to rapid cool down by pouring water over them after a run session. At least that's what the autoX guys told me.

depends on what ur doing with them... i have advan neovas on my rsx awsome tires btw. azenis wont handle heat nearly as good as the advan neovas but are a good compromise for the price. also the potenzas are great tires as well.
if ur doing extended track sessions kumho mxs are really good for the money. take a while to heat up depending on how hot it is out but handle the heat relatively well from what ive seen
