Should I Buy 2 Advan A046, or 4 Falken RT-615?

When I bought my car, I heard many people say to get an alignment done because the alignment from the factory is wack. I didnt listen, and my front 2 tires were completly eaten from the inside. I was out of town when my dad bought some Sumitomo tires. My god they are horrible. I didnt think a car would understeer that much just by the tires it has but, it understeers pretty damn bad. The car sways all over the place when turning, the car doesnt feel stable at all. This is all after 4 new set of tires (Sumitomo) and an alignment. I still have the 2 rear stock Advan A046 sitting in the garage, they had about 7,000-8,000 miles before I took them off. I want better tires. Im thinking about 2 choices:

A: Buy 2 Advan A046 to and use the other 2 tires I had. ($542) [$271*2]
B: Buy 4 Falken RT-615 ($544) [$136*4]

If the price is a bit off, please let me know. Assuming these prices are right, the difference between the 2 is $2.00

If I get A: They say the stock Advans last about 12,000 miles. Plus those are some expensive tires to replace

If I get B: Ill spend a little more but, Ive heard the performance from these tires is slightly a little less (hopfully better then the Sumitomo) but I hear the tires have a longer life then the advans.

Or C: Ive research alot, and read about alot of different tires, if you feel these 2 choices arent that great, what would you recomend me?

I think tire life also depends on how you drive.

I don't drive an Evo, but my Advan Yokohoma's as you say actually do last about 12,000 miles. I'm up to 11,200 miles and its almost time for a change. Thats city/highway driving and the occasional beat around the corners.

Anyway, based on what you say, for an Evo its always best to change all four. Never change two and have two previously on. From what I've read anyway, thats almost like a rule in the Evo books.

The RT-615 Are awesome, but I heard they are being replaced.

My opinion, if they are the older style RT-615, get the Azenis...

I like them as much as most Advans...

Sorry my friend, the 615 dont compare to the Advans in any way. The Advans are a superior tire. The 615 do seem to perform well in autocross, but on a trackday they can get rather greasy. The advans are a bit noisey once they're tracked though. Because of how expensive they are, I went with Bridgestone REO1R's. Since you have 2, Id order a set of new ones for the front.

No reason they should have worn like that fast. You alighnment must have been off.

So, choice #1, get 2 advans.
#2, get a set of RE01R's. I use em, and Nils won on a set of these at the redline time attack in Buttonwillow within the street tire category. And theyre much quiter too!

Im sorry but thats ridiculous.. So if you run over a nail and you blow out a tire you should buy 4 new ones? hahah I dont think so. Unless your tires are pretty damn worn, you are fine if you had to replace 1, 2 or 3 tires. You think the tolerance is that small that a brand new vs a 20% worn tire is going to mess things up? The tire pressure difference alone in your tires can change the overall dimensions that much. Just stick with the same model tire and you will be fine.

You can't really go wrong with either tires, I have the Falkens and they're great. Even in the rain they're fine, I really didn't feel much of a difference between these and the adavans in wet weather conditions. I tend to push my car a lot, and form wha ti can tell the falkens squeal a lot more than the advans and by no means are quiet tires. I did notice that the falkens needed a little more time to warm up to get the rubber a bit more sticky, but other than that great set of tires for the evo.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to push my falkens hard enough, at least to the point were they begint o overheat and lose traction. IF money is a concern get Falkens if not, then get the Advans or like LDOGGYDIZZLE stated above; the Bridgestone REO1Rs'.

which Sumitomo's did you get, they have all-season as well as high performance summer tires for the evo. Sumitomo has a deal with Goodyear, they are essentially the same tire just sold under different names in the respective markets

How do the Bridgestone RE01R's compare with the Falken RT-615? I'm thinking about going with the Bridgestone RE01R.

What size would be best recomended with BBS MR wheels?

235/40R17
245/40R17
245/45R17

I would assume the 245/40R17 would be good becuase it provides a good amount of area for the tire on the road and has a shorter sidewall. What is yalls input?

The Advan AO46, in a 235/45/17 (stock) has a 25.3" overall diameter and does 822 revolutions per mile.

The REO1R in a 245/40/17 has a 24.7" overall diameter and does 843 revolutions per mile.

The REO1R in a 245/45/17 has a 25.7" overall diameter and does 811 revolutions per mile.

So the 245/45/17 is a much closer match to the stock tire size than a 245/40/17. The 245/45/17 is only .4 bigger, rather than .6 smaller, and does 11 less revolutions per mile compared to 21 more times.

I bought my car brand new and with the AO46's I did 4 track weekends and15,000 daily driver miles (yeah they were completely bald). The AO46's were loud after the 1st weekend at Road America running 2:41's laps. To currently,245/45/17 REO1R's with 2 track weekends at Autobahn with 1:41 laps on the south track. Still drive it to work everyday with very low noise and great comfort.

As for hearing about them, they're pretty new. Oh, I almost forgot, the REO1R's have 140 tread rating compared to AO46's of 160. The falkin doesnt even compare to these tires off the autoX track or on the road. The bridgestone is superior in the wet with the advan 2nd and the falkin a far back 3rd.

Ive also driven on 615's.
