Brake pad chamfers?
This is a general question about the chamfer found on brake pads. You know how one side (edge) of the brake pad material has a chamfer (angled surface)?
I'm guessing this chamfer is placed on the lead-in side of the pad during forward rotation of the brake disc. Is this a correct assumption?
Does anyone know the reason for this chamfer? Is it to give a gradual lean-in surface?

I replaced the pads on my brother's Land Rover and the rear pads had this chamfer on one side only. I know this is not EVO specific, but the chamfer on the pads are still found on our cars.
Just curious as to their benefit.
