It boggles my mind why someone would change the the F/R springrate ratio without trying to address a specific defect in the stock one.

i noticed the japanese race teams seem to run the opposite of US philosophy with suspension.
we typically run the same size tires all the way around and higher spring rates in the rear, to help with rotation.
In Japan some teams treat the Evo similarly to their weird JDM FWD setups, they have higher spring rates for the front, but they also compensate with a staggered wheel setup. larger wider wheels up front with a lower profile, and less of a profile on the rear. I know on other boards the speculation as to why they run this, is that it gives more steering response mid turn - and suits a more aggressive driving style.
