Winter tires 235/50/17 vs 235/45/17
Are 235/50/17 too tall to be used for winter tires on stock Enkeis?
I know 235/45/17 is the stock size, but doesn't it help if the car is a little taller in the winter to run over stuff?
Will 235/50/17 have any clearing issues with the fender or any turning issues?

Most winter tires in the same size 235/45/17 are narrower than a summer tire. I know for a fact the hankook icebear and blizzaks are like this. I've always stuck with the stock size.

I run 235/45/17 Pilot Alpin's on my car in the winter and there great. I don't see enough snow here in the Philly area to justify a narrower tire, but you get more snow in Boston than we do. It would bother me having a smaller tire in dry conditions.
