Ohlins Fixed Perch vs MR Bilsteins?
#2
We had a set in a while ago....we were very impressed. Could adjust down to Bilstein ride quality, but also adjust way up. Very wide range of adjustment.
The only people i know with them are A-stock auto-x people. Which is a shame because they are so good.

Bringing this post back from the dead but,
Could you elaborate on the adjustments? I know RCE/Gtworx has experience with these struts and the STi but curious how much experience did you guys have with the evo.
I'm seriously considering these over the Bilstein hd due to the constant delay with bilstein.
I already have my set of RCE/GTworx springs waiting to be installed.
Do you have recommended settings for the struts to match your springs.
and i assume that it will take all the stock hardware correct?
Thanks

I THINK I have recommended settings for our springs and Swifts....not 100% sure. Either way, I can help you find a good setting. There are 25 clicks of adjustment, located on the bottom of the strut up front. You can feel them "click" easily. Full soft matches with stock springs well. I seem to remember somewhere around 12-17 clicks for our springs. Full stiff is beyond what is even available for the EVO. Each click or two makes a pretty nice difference.
We did do a set for an older gentleman who was not really a forum guy. Daily driver, tracked just for fun a couple times a year (lots of track experience but was not pushing the car too hard). He was looking for something more BMW M-Sport than JDM special and was pleased with the results.
Compared to MR Bilsteins, these were "compliant" instead of overly soft. Very comfortable and yet firm in all the right places....errr....wait that sounded wrong....
All the stock hardware works. We don't do a lot of these for EVO, but STI ones are super popular. You can turn them up for more of an "edge" if you're into that and it still rides nicely, or leave them on a conservative setting and it still handles nicely. The beauty of Ohlins and good valving.
