Wider tires for stock EVO IX?

My second set of tires are toast and I'm in the market for new tires. I went to a couple of local tire shops and they suggest that I stay with the 235/45R stock size. My question is could I fit a wider tire on the stock wheels? Will I have any fitment issues or rubbing problems with a 245/40R tire on the stock Enkei's?

No you shouldn't have any trouble with that rubbing. I had 255-40-17 on mine with megan coilovers and had no trouble. I'm thinking about 265's when I need tires.

yes, that is correct. Also, just as a suggestion, you can go to a 255/40/17 which will actually be closer to the stock tire circumferance than 245/40/17.

Just go with the Dunlop Z1 in the stock size. They are $128 a piece at tirereack. To answer your question yes you can run a 255/40/17 on the stock rim but it seems to only work for a couple of tires. The 615, RA1, and the AD-07.

Good Luck

Falken Azenis RT-615's 255/40/17 ($116 per tire) approx. $550 shipped. Best deal I've found.

I personally went with 245/40 in the RE-01Rs. You can make your own decisions as to 245/40 or 255/40. I personally think 245/40 is better for an 8" rim.
