2-Piece rotors

I just ordered some Worx 2 piece Evo rotors front and rear. After searching and what my local shop could find out, (Whom I bought the rotors from) is it true Brembo does NOT make a two piece rotor replacement for the Evo VII VIII or IX?

WTF?

No they don't, but there are many options that are just as good as Brembo in terms of quality. Stoptech and Performance Friction both make outstanding 2-piece rotors. There are some others out there too, but these are the ones I have personally had good experiences with.

Stoptech doesn't make rears. Only reason I went with the Worx was they offered all 4.

I think we should have a comparison to see which manufacture has the lightest 2 piece rotor.

Stoptech has a great internal ventilation design (one of the best) and I got the first set of blank 2 piece ones made, to my knowlege. Slots are worthless, so the vents and blank faces were the deciding factors for me.

There's a lot more to rotor design then just weight.

I have the Racing Brake 2 piece rotors and they work well. I think most two piece floating rotors will be pretty good. I've warped 2 sets of normal 1 piece rotors but the two piece ones are holding up fine.

I agree, but the main reason why people go with 2 piece is weight reduction correct? I know that there's other variables that make certain rotors more superior then others like heat decapitation and such. But I don't know much so just learning a little here and there.

On this forum: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...=buschur+rotor

It says that Stoptech's 2 piece rotors are 332. Our stock one are 324 correct? If we get this rotor, do we need any adapter plates?

The main reason people go 2 piece is to cool the brakes and last longer under track conditions. 2 piece floating rotors don't warp as easily as normal rotors under track conditions.

Yes, the weight reduction is a big part of it.....but.....and this is just my opinion, the top 3 or so 2 pc. rotors all weigh within 1 lb of each other (or close to that).

So just picking one simply because it's lighter by a few ounces may not be the way to go. Vane design is a big thing, materials used, how the rotor works with certain pads, how long they last, etc.

The good news is that most of the top 2 pc. rotors out there, PFC, DBA, Stoptech, etc. all have great designs and you can't really go wrong with any of them. There are advantages to each though.

Those Stoptech rotors are for their big brake kit and won't fit the stock brembos. They have another stock replacement 2 piece rotor that fits without issue.

I dont know what thread you were reading, but the thread that you have noted makes reference to the StopTech BBK (big break kit)..."Stop Tech's larger 332 mm front rotor weighs 17.5 pounds. (this rotor is in their big brake kit)."

Just as a reference, i have the StopTech 2 piece rotors. I happen to also still have my OEM rotors. Upon weighing both of them on the same scale, i found out that my StopTechs are 2 lbs lighter than my OEM rotors. However, keep in mind that (a) when i weighed my StopTech 2 piece rotors they were brand new, and (b) my OEM rotors were beyond used, not to mention had been resurfaced once. So i suppose its safe to say that theyre actually a bit over 2 lbs lighter.

What are the pros and cons of the StopTech vs. Racing Brake vs. PFC 2-piece rotors for the stock calipers?

IMO, just like everything else i attempt to test, without doing extensive testing (eg an entire season of events...15+) on each, you will never really know.

Can anyone with experience with any of these brands comment on any change in wheel fitment? I've heard that some rotors are thicker than stock at the hub?
