Most of these coilovers are a tier above the Megans in terms of price and quality. Megans are more comparable to Helix, Apexi EXV, Greddy, as these are all the same as/manufactured by BC Racing.

I haden't heard of Exe-TC until now. They look very nice and well designed. It also appears that they cost almost twice as much as the most expensive of the coilovers mentioned in this thread.

i read earlier in this thread someone mentioned that a good set of shocks and springs would be better than coilovers cause they would be more consistant. Can someone elaborate on that. I mean this is getting a little confusing to me now, as i am also lookin for a good street/track coilover.

What is most important to you; daily ride characteristics or blazing around a track? Depending upon what your priority is the answer will be different. The VERY best bang for the buck would be the Ohlins DFV's for street or track, then Bislteins-if you are looking for good road manners. The KW's are not as nice on the street but have a slight edge on the track over the Bilsteins.

If you are not inclined to mess with coilovers and do corner balancing you can use a good spring/damper setup. The best example would be GTWorx Evo springs on Ohlins replacement dampers, but you be looking at the same price as a set of low-mid price coilovers. Another VERY good setup for daily driving and some track would be MR Bilsteins on GTWorx springs.

I hope this helps you refine your search a bit more.

Which Koni's do they use? 8611's? I'm surprised I hadn't heard that before.

I'm also surprised no one has mentioned these yet:

DA Konis for the price of KWs. Which I guess sounds like DA Konis for the price of DA Konis now... Time to do some research.

Edit: Bzzt.

Here's the AL-KO website: http://www.al-ko.es/english/catalogo.htm

Pretty sure that's not Koni.

From what I understand KW's have SOME dampers that were engineered with Koni parts and some (most) with al-ko. The only company that has a direct Koni connection (from what I've seen) is AST. The connection comes in the form of the owner of AST working for Koni for years. I'm not 100% on this but again, that is what I've seen in my research.

GTLocke13-

I can't wait to see your BSP Evo run some time this summer!

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a while longer. I'm co-driving an A-Stock Solstice this year. The Evo won't make it's BSP debut until next season.

KW used Koni dampers a LOONG time ago.....ancient news.

AL-KO makes a lot of OEM "sport package" shocks for a bunch of cars.

Hard to go wrong with either zzyzx or KW....both are high quality, double adjustable, have great valving etc. They're going to beat a lot of the super short travel, poorly valved, Japanese and Chinese coilovers.

Any adjustable suspension is only as good as how it is set up. More options may just be more opportunities to set it up improperly, and it doesn't matter if it's a $900 or $10,000 suspension, if it's set up wrong, it's not optimal, and the adjustments are not helping you until they are correct. Also, many of the lower end coilovers (including some that cost up to $2k) have been said to have inconsistent results from their adjustments accross the unit, and across the set on a shock dyno. Regarding consistency, if you were racing and trying out different setting on each run, and probably running a different time each lap you would be blurring what is the results of your driving and what is the result of the suspensions settings. With a "install it and leave it alone" non-adjustable shock/spring setup, you would be sure that it is your driving that is affecting your times. Of course, once coilovers are set up properly, there are few occasions to change the settings, and it is the same after that.

Oh I forgot to update. I ended up getting some JIC FLTA2 because they were take-offs from the Showcase Evo. and I got them for less than the price of BC Racing coilovers. They have some unknown custom spring rates. If they were good enough for good drivers like andy Lieber and John Tak to do well at Nationals, they will be good enough for me to learn on.
