Frozen Rotors

Anyone use them? I'm looking into tracking my car in the very near future and am trying to build my suspension, brakes/rotors, and transmission accessories to the best of my budget and knowledge. My father said to check out frozenrotors.com and look at some of their stuff, but since he's more into BMW's and what not, I thought I'd come here and see if you guys know of any better rotors or if you have had an experience with high quality rotors and/or frozen rotors' products. Thanks!

have had great experience with them so far. the cryo treatment really makes them rough and tough for heavy street and mild track duty. have had no complaints or returns on that brans yet!

Awesome, I'll have to do some serious time investment in that brand then. Hopefully I'll have them ordered and installed by the time the next BMW Windy City chapter goes to RA.

Btw, what brakes would you recommend with these rotors? Stock? Or should I look into some after market pieces?

they can handle any type of pad really. if you're doing track and street combo the Hawk HPS or HP Plus (depending on how aggressive the conditions are) would work fine. if its just everyday easy driving an oe pad will work well.

DO NOT USE HP+ ON A STREET CAR!!! Please don't use those... I thought it was an Evo thing, but my brother put them on his Bimmer and same problem. Every time you hit the brakes-- regardless of brake temp-- it sounds like its the apocalypse... I can't stress this matter more, UNGODLY BRAKE NOISE.

Are you using these brakes on a BMW or an Evo? And if a BMW, what kind, the HPS's are okay, but struggle to slow a heavy car quickly-often. I used them on my Evo and they were kind of wasted by the end of a track day. A BMW is pretty much in the same class of car (weight wise, calm down Evo buffs), but for some reason they're not QUITE as bad on pads. I'd recommend getting BOTH HPS and HP+ is you go with Hawk, it sounds expensive, but the HPS doesn't wear much on the street, and the HP+ stands up at the track better, better bang for the buck.

Well I won't be using the same pads all year round, I will be changing my wheel's and pads and maybe suspension during track days. If need be I'll opt with the HPS for extended life.

To minimize brake noise, you have to reuse the stock shims that came on the stock pads for the Evo. In addition to the shims you'll have to apply a liberal amount of anti-sieze grease on the back of the pad, on top of the shims.
