No Winter Tires = Crash

Hey guys just to remind everyone that does not know yet-
if you are still using your OEM tires and it snows even 1/2" YOU WILL CRASH

OEM tires are only for warm dry seasons.

I hate to see crashed EVO's

Believe that! My buddy had a STI, on stockers, had his first crash with it, a month after he got it!

I put some Blizzaks on last week! It is suppose to snow here in Cleve. today.

Also Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

This is absolutely true.

The stock yokohama tires have ZERO traction on even the slightest snow.

I recently picked up as set of Hankook Icebear W300's on 17" rims from discount tire. I had these tires on another car, and they worked great on snow and ice...plus you can get them in stock size.

QFT. If I even hear the word "snow" mentioned in the forecast, the snow tires go on. Looks like we're getting our first sprinkling already here in Chicago. Drive safe people, and happy Thanksgiving!

You don't drive with the stock tires in the snow, you sled.

Nobody said they were bad. But they aren't designed for use in very cold weather or snow.

I have the same tires. For snow tires they perform very well on the dry pavement. Also I'm on my third snow season with nearly full tread.

^ Yes sir

Guys a great alternative is a decent all season. Ive used all seasons for 3 winters now without issue at all. The Evo is a true beast in the snow

I'm glad you posted this, because I fear too many evo owners could care less about their tires. DON'T TAKE ANY CHANCES WITH SUMMER ONLY TIRES IN THE WINTER!!! I had an appointment to put on my winters the other day, and out of nowhere it started snowing. It wasn't much, maybe a 1/4 of an inch at most and mostly slush, so I decided to try getting out of my driveway. Not only could I barely get up the hill, but I actually slid down when I tried to stop and nearly crashed into a stone wall. Here's a picture of something nobody should ever see, Bridgestone RE-01R tread in the snow!
