Question Has anyone tried Nitto 555 RII Tires?

Nitto makes a slightly different version of their 555R drag radial that they call the 555RII. It costs about the same, and has as stiffer sidewall. It is intended for road racing. I was thinking about picking up a set of these to replace my wearing stock tires. Anyone here run these or have any experience? I just want a tire that's as good as or better than the stock AVS, without the cost.

Hey, I got 11K miles out of the stock tires...I did have the inner tread wear issue in the front, but the rear tires could probably go another 2-3K more miles..

Those are race tires, like the NT01s. Expect them to pick up rocks and wear quickly. They will stick very well (much better than Advans) but also wear quickly. They probably are unsafe below freezing as well.

I had the 555R on another car and yeah they are sticky. Are there any other tires that are as good as the stock ones?

If you are talking around the same level of grip and performance and assuming you want to keep your stock wheels: I would go with the Falken Azenis RT615 in 255/40/R17 size tire, Bridgestone Potenza RE01R in stock tire size, or wait for the new Toyo R1R to come out.

if you plan to daily drive them, why don't you buy some all season tires on stock wheel, and racing compound tires on Racing wheels for track days. Unless you want to be another author of, now way too common, " I crashed my Evo " threads

Thanks, I'll check out those tires you suggested.

Yes, I do want to use it for daily driving and I like how my Evo is now with the way the tires grip (in nice, warm weather that is). I have winter tires on other rims I am running for now (Hankook Icebear W300).
