Brake pin wont come out.... anyone had this problem?
ok so to start off i did try searching and didnt see anyone really discussing this same problem
I have an 03 EVO 8, I am doing a front pad change. I have one side complete and done, no problems.
The drivers side i have one of the pins out but i can not get the other one out, the other 3 pins came out no problem and this last one is just being a HUGE pain. i have hit it with PB power blaster like 1000 times and let it sit for an hour here and there. same problem. I feel i may have to cut it with a cutting wheel and tap them out from inside.
anyone else had this problem and or know what i could try to get that last one out?
any ideas would be great!
Thanks Guys
-Ethan

You have to hit them pretty hard.
I had to hold my caliper with my feet then hit the pins out with a hammer and a small screw driver.
try spraying some PB Blaster on it.
Worst case scenario - they could've been bent last time you put them back in.

hey guys thanks for all the input.
after letting it sit for a while with some PB power blaster on it, she evntually gave up and came out. dont know why that one pin gave me so much trboule it looked like there was some red locktite on it, and the only person who has ever had them out before me was the deal for some rotor resurfacing.
Thanks again!

I bought one of these for another project and was a worthwhile tool to take out the pins.

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I did a dumb thing and chipped a bit of paint trying to force the issue when 3 of my 4 rears were being very, very stubborn.
If the pins won't come out carefully spray them with some penetrating oil (pb blaster) on the inside and outside of each pin a couple of times and wait a day. If you spray them and go right at it the penetrating oil won't do its job. Feel free to spray it again a couple of hours later or even a few times and try not to get oil on the rotors.
The pins should tap out easily. If you are muscling it you are just going to be facepalming later.

These are an excellent pickup and are easily long enough to not to any damage to the calipers

I've always just used a nail (with the head of the nail against the pin, hammering on the pointy tip).
I also put anti-seize on them so they don't seize up and come out easier the next time I'm swapping pads. Also, be sure to clean them well when taking them out so they slide in nicely. I sand them down a bit to get brake dust and such off.
