235 40 18 on 18x9.5 rims?

Thank you EvoPooPoo, someone else here knows you will not die running stretched tires.
I'm not saying it's going to give you good launches for drag racing, and the tire Rack certainly would never recommend it, and only euro or Mexican shops will mount them for you, using special techniques and/or tools, but it has been and is still quite common.

Everyone stop acting like he is definitely going to crash and die if he runs them, especially if you have no first hand experience with this.

Bottom line: While it is backwards to some extent to compromise your tires just for certain wheels, yes, you can get away with this just fine. I think you'll dig the looks but hate everything else about it.

how on earth did you get that wheel with a 12 offset fit?

It required a little bit of fender work, and adding some camber on the rears.
The fronts fit fine.

Rolled and pulled rear fenders...

woww thats pretty neat...

I decided im going to get some falken fk452s in the 265 35 18 series, Im sure ill need to get my rear fenders rolled but at least Im confident I can drive on those smaller tiresfor 500 miles without worrying

hey I ran 265/35/18 on my SE37K 18x10.5s not a single problem

so 235/40/18s on 9.5" wide wheels will be just fine.
