Rim Shopping....

Guys I need your help here. I've been looking for a new set of shoes for my RR9 and frankly I'm overwhelmed by the many sick rims available. I can't make up my mind. I'm trying to stay under the $2000 range. 18x9 or 17x9. My shop says I shouldn't get 17's because I'll regret it later. The price difference between the two (tires included) are like night and day in some instances. My question to you guys is this. How much did weight, price and size of the rim influence in your decision to buy? Did the weight make that much difference in what you purchased? Your comments will be greatly appreciated.........Thanks

Its all about personal preference.Whatever rim you choose is your choice. As long as you are happy with the rims you choose is all that matters.

i dont mind having some heavier rims since i only do street driving... if u do tracks, lighter rims do make some difference... i think the Work CR Kai are some pretty good rims considering its weight, price, look, and quality.....

What are you using them for?

Are you just going to drive? If thats the case, you could get some Rotas (G-Force or P45R) in 18x9 for like $900. The weight won't be that noticable for just driving. Another rim that looks aggressive that is fairly cheap is the new 5zigen ZR+520.

If you are using them for track rims (autox, road race), you want to go light as possible like RPF1s. I could really tell the difference on autox with my car between heavier and lighter rims.

It doesnt sound like youre looking to get wheels for track usage. Even then, if youre just going to do some HPDE's here and there, its not going to make any difference because its not a competition. So its not like youre looking for every last tenth/hundredth of a second.

That pretty much leaves DD usage. If youre looking for wheels for DD, it comes down to preference. Some people prefer 18s, some people prefer 17s. Youre going to have to decide what you prefer. Typically, 18s are more expensive, and so are the tires. If youre overwhelmed, it sounds like youre a noob to all this. If thats the case, it might be in your best interest to be patient and let things settle.

You're right I am a Noob and that's probably the case. I guess it really does all boil down to What will I be using the car for? and that's DD and maybe an occasional drag day here and there could just to see where I am as far as Mods. I can always put back the stock rims on those days. Thanks for responses
