Aftermarket springs.... on a ix

will putting aftermarket springs on a ix blow out the shocks and make it handle worse? When I bought my 04' cobra it had coilovers on it and all it did was give me problems. All the bushings on the front of the car cracked and started to fall apart because the car was lowered. The right front suspension also started squeeking when i raised it a little.

I am in the process of buying a ix and I find a lot of them just have "springs" .. I am buying this car mostly for its handling so I really wanted stock suspension.

any info?

There are good springs and there are crappy springs that cause trouble....which ones are you finding on the cars you're looking at?

I'd like to know the same. I lowered my old RSX with some TEIN Springs and after a while the shock crapped out on me. I'd hate to make the same mistake twice.

Those are the only ones that seem to pop up all the time. If I were to go with springs instead of full coilovers it would probably be them.

Swifts are great, and we make our own springs that are similar but lower the car a little less, and I have also heard good things about the Works springs.

Tein S-techs are generally regarded as trouble since they slam the car onto the bumpstops.

exactly, and if i bought a 9 and then realized it was handling like **** because the springs messed with some suspension components and had to spend money to replace it, i'd be pretty upset lol

ive had swift springs on my IX for about 10k and absolutly love them. the ride is alot like the stock feel so it still kind of smooth but the car def handles alot better around the corners and what not for just springs and no other suspension mods, also the ride height is perfect too. i would do them again in a heart beat

if you get the right springs you shouldn't have an ill effects.

i currently have Works springs on my IX MR and have liked them. it has helped the car stay flatter and more responsive on the autocross and time trials too.

so i reccomend the works springs. mine are only a temporary bandiade though, i plan on getting coilovers as soon as i can.

I had the Tanabe gf210's for a while. They were okay. I would recommend them over tein any day. I switched to a full coilover setup now.

Well this all sounds promising.....maybe I'll start looking into springs.
