Value,
I calculated 6 3/4" as the maximum backspacing possible, which is 38mm offset on a 9.5", so you are saying to make it 6 5/8". Is this because that is all people sell the wheel in off the shelf or because that is the most offset you can run with a 9.5" 18?
I think some fender rolling would be required (unless the spring rates are quite high). Has that been your experience?
Who makes the wheel?
James

jpgunn,
6 3/4" backspacing is the maximum possible to clear all the suspension hardware. I have fitup an 18x10 wheel with that backspacing and a 275/35-18 Hoosier. The front clears fairly easily. The rear fender lip will require rolling if staying with spring rates similar to stock.
Hope this helps,
Eric

I'm inquiring with SSR to see if I can fit a 18x9.5 or even potentially an 18x10 wheel on my Evo. I'm not optimistic about the 18x10, as I don't want to have to roll any lips. I'll let everyone know what they say.

A Hoosier 275/35-18 tire on an 18x10 wheel will not fit in the rear without fender modifications. A Kumho 265/35-18 tire on a 18x9.5 wheel will clear the fender - at least for autox.

Whats the advantage to running such a wide tire? What type of track would this benefit on? Would there be any advantage in street handling? Just out of curiosity...

???.. Any track except those going straight line...
more rubber the better..
I saw a ESP EVO running really wide rubber at last local event..
I think he squeezed 275 Kumho V710 (the new one-thread R
compound) in all 4 corners...

Thanks!

Hmm.. so I could get 17x9.5 w/o fender roll as long as the
offset is +35?
offset is +35?
