I agree with Neal. If you look at the tire manufacturer specs, they usually have a minimum & maximum wheel width recommendation. This is done for a reason. Despite being able to physically install it without problems on a rim outside the recommended specs, that combination will not give you the maximum performance that the tire can offer and could possibly lead to premature wear (more likely at the track where uneven temps will affect the tire as opposed to street driving)

Tons of us run 255s on the stock rims. 5 seconds of searching would show that and answer your question 100 times over.
It is not the ideal width, but it works well. A 245 width would be better, but unfortunately, 245/40s and 245/45s don't have proper diameters, so we go with the 255/40s, which are closest to stock in terms of diameter while providing additional ground patch.

the Falkens sidewall is stiff enough that it isn't a problem
