T1R or RT615.. dd?

hey guys i need help deciding what tires to get. i'ma get 18x9 wheels. thinkin hyperblack Rota SVN. $1620 with 255/35/18 Toyo T1R. or should i just get the wheels only for $900 then spend $824 more to get Falken Azenis RT-615 255/40/18 put on them from Discount Tire, which would equal $1724. Basically for $100 more should i go for the RT-615 or save it and get T1R. its my daily driver.
Thanks for any input.

Discount tires has terrible prices. I'd go with Tire Rack and look at the Potenza RE-01R's and Dunlop Direzza Z1. The Z1's are cheaper and are supposed to be slightly less grippy than the RE01R's but not by much. They are also cheaper than the RT615's and have longer life.

The RT615s don't do so great in the rain. I had the T1Rs and I can't complain about them as DD tires in the rain. I also got really great mileage out of the tires. After 15K miles on them, they were only worn down by 30%.

The Dunlops don't have longer life than the Falken RT-615 because they both have a tread wear rating of 200. Now as a DD tire what are you looking at? Good tire for the rain with long life? The Falken RT-615s are going to wear out quicker than the Toyo T1-Rs. Better dry handling for the Falkens. Toyo T1-Rs have better traction in the rain than the Falkens. I have found a better price after a quick search for the two tires that your looking at:

Falken Azenis RT-615 - 255-40-17: $150 @ Edge Racing x4 = $600

Toyo T1-R - 255-35-18: $163 or 255-40-18: $172 @ Edge Racing x4 = $652 or $688

The other tires mentioned are MAX Performance Summer tires and they might not be a good tire in the rain compared to the Toyo T1-R. Also cost more. But they have way better dry grip than the Toyos, and a little better than the Falkens. Price is as follows:

Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R 255-35-18: $239 @ Tire Rack x4 = $956

Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 255-35-18: $220 @ Tire Rack x4 = $880

I think DTD has good prices and they have free shipping. In 255/40/17 they are $11 cheaper than Edge Racing. Didn't bother to look up the other sizes.

Print out the Vulcan Tire ad, and then go to Discount Tires and they will match it. I got mine out the door installed for $608 yesterday. Tires were $125 each. This is the third set I have bought this way.

The RT615 has a WAY more grip than the T1R... but the RT615 won't last as long and has a stiff sidewalls for a harsh ride.

For a daily driver, the T1R would be more friendly. Also, if you drive in snow or heavy rain, the RT615 won't work.
