Trying to go lower : 245/40 or 255/35?

I'm trying to go lower on my suspension and was wondering which tire will give me more room for lowering without fender rolling.

I know overall diameter for 245/40/18 is 25.7"
and 255/35/18 is 25".

But I have 18x9.0 wheels. Would 245/40/18 stretch enough so the overall diameter will be smaller than 255/35/18?

Thanks.

The height of the stock Advan's are 25.3" tall. With a small search on TireRack.com, the first page of 245/40's were averaging 25.7" tall. I had 255/35's on my 18X9's and they were exactly the same size as the stock wheels.

People say go with 255/35 without saying why..

Can someone tell me the actual height difference between 245/40/18 and 255/35/18 ON 18x9.0 wheel?

As far as I know 255/35's are recommended for 18x9.0 but 245/40's will work just as fine.

You're saying 255/35/18 on 18x9.0 will give me more room than 245/40/18 on the same wheel?

chances are if you run a 255/35 you are going to rub the fender lip of the rear fender......if you run a 245/40 you will rub the front plastic fender liner when you lock the steering wheel right or left while turning.

i personally went with falken 245/40/18 for my 18x9 +29 advan rgII. the falken tires have a rounded shoulder which gave me the extra bit of space so i dont rub. size is not the only thing to consider when choosing a tire and researching if it will rub or not, but also the shoulder profile of the tire too.

the best thing you can do is search members on here that are running the same wheels as you have and pm them your questions.
