New Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs - Best Street tire?

I've tried all the top performing street tires; Neovas, Bridgestones RE01R, Falkens, Kumho MX and the stock Yoks.

The new Dunlops seem to work pretty darn good on the Evo:

Not too much $ either!

I still love the RE-01R, but the Dunlop's do seem to be better for the track. RE-01R is much easier to live with....they are a quiet tire on the street.

Once the RE-11 comes out it's game over for Dunlop .

You do have to note the $50/tire difference between the 2! I can live with somemore noise for $200 in my pocket!

When you drive 2000 miles a month, the added comfort for only $200 for essentially a year a driving is worth it to me.

I drive about the same. I guess with the mods I have, I am used to the extra niose.

But I think that is really the only deciding factor between the 2 price/noise.

Who said they're noisey? It's a quiet tire, nothing like a Falken or Yoko 032. I have them on my wife's BMW.

Now the RE01r rides a little softer with the same air pressure - if you're into that's what you're looking for in a tire for an Evo.

For me I'm looking for the most grip, good response, wet and dry traction at a resonable cost. The Dunlop Z1 Star Spec beats the RE01 in every single one of those points!

I bought a set of the Dunlop Z1 Star Specs and found that they have the worst radial pull of any tire I had ever purchased. I would drive down the road, take my hand off the wheel and within seconds the car would pull left or right. I was constantly having to fight the car. I had the car aligned 3 different times, rotated tires, checked air pressure and even check to see if I had a hanging caliper. It all checked out. I kept thinking what the crap! Finally a friend of mine said he had a new set of Bridgestone 01Rs already mounted sitting in his house. He suggested try them out. So, I put them on and headed out. I was completely shocked, the car did just as it suppose to. I took my hand off the wheel and straight as a ruler. I could count up to 25 seconds before ever having to touch the wheel. I ended up returning the tires to Dunlop through Tirerack and purchasing the 01Rs. I was really disappointed in the Dunlop. They had great ratings, reviews and price. I must have received a bad set or something.

Oh, one other note, the 01Rs....... I thought would pull the black off the pavement. They are very sticky.

I've noticed that my Z1's very light pull every now and hen. But it's never bothered me. Crazy awesome in the bends. I've never tired the RE-01R's though.

I ran 265/35/18 Star Specs and I LOVED them. autocross every damn weekend, two autocross schools, looots of abuse, and they were the best tire ever.

I just got RE01R's due to the clearance price, but they have a lot to live up to!

LOL I had a feeling that these tires were the culprit of my problem. I just bought mine from tire rack also and my car pulls to the right like crazy. 2 alignments already and Im thinking I had a caster problem. I just dumped money on these a few weeks ago and havnt even been able to enjoy them.
