you drove around on 52psi for 3700 miles...?

what is wrong with you guys... this is a hi-po car and tire pressures should be checked minimum of once a week...

everyone says hi-po this and hi-po that. i dont believe this is too much of a hi-po car. Mitsubishi always says that this is a hi-po car. This is an AWD family car is my opinion but I dont think a pregnant lady can sit inside without getting a miscarriage.

hi-po or not, why didn't you just let the air out? If you have the capacity to check the pressure then you must have the ability to release some pressure. I can tell you that 44psi HOT feels like a$$ on a track. It felt much better in the low 30's.

Remember that for every 10 degrees of ambient temperature, your tires will increase or decrease in pressure (depending on if the tires are cooling or warming up) by one pound. It is best to check the pressure in the morning when it is cool outside, drive the car to work, then check again to see how much it increased at operating temperature. This is why it is important to not inflate your tire to max psi (44lbs in your case) when cold because the tire will then be over inflated when brought up to temperature. This can cause problems. If your tires are overinflated by 6 psi, they could be damaged more easily when running over potholes or debris in the road. Higher inflated tires cannot isolate road irregularities well causing them to ride harsher. However, higher inflation pressures usually provide an improvement in steering response and cornering stability up to a point. This is why participants who use street tires in autocrosses, track events and road races, run higher than normal inflation pressures. Of coarse this would not be recommended for everyday driving. It is also good to check the inflation pressure at a bare minimum once a month as tires lose one pound of pressure naturally per month.

yeah i let the air out. do u guys feel the road pulls on ur wheels during driving in bumpy roads?? It happens to my rx300's wheels as well. it pulls me to whatever the road slants to...a lot. I'm using 255/55/18 tires on my rx

the steering in the EVO is very quick as you know... it's probably not so much the tires as the car just being pulled by slight inputs to the wheel...

I assume you have the coupe and not the sedan if you are running the 205/40-17 size. I would stick to your door/owners manual recommended air pressure. The tire size might be larger, or lower profile, but the amount of air the tire holds is the same as your stock tires. With that size, you dont reduce or increase the amount of air you have to put in the tire, but instead you are changing the shape of the air in the tire. Think of it as a ballon. Fully inflated its round. If you push it against a surface, it will get shorter and wider with the same amout of air in it. Changing shape not volume. So, stick with what the manufacture suggests for that size. If this still feels a bit squirmy, experiement with the air pressure in 5 lbs increments (not exceeding the max psi) until you are happy with the handling

??????? Look at the inside door jam, recommended tire pressure settings, (32psi front, 28psi back).
