I guess this isn't bling bling enough for the kiddies, maybe if it has a sticker with it to let people know that it's really under there... I mean what's the point if you can't show it off right?

search for "underbody venturi and diffuser" on google.com for all the info you'll ever need.
I like this one:
http://www.f1stats.net/main/techarti...erbodyflow.htm
I'm not exactly sure what Shiv was saying about redirecting the air.
But...because of the venturi effect a low pressure will be created at the rear of the car creating a downforce in that location.

its a piece of plastic, which in theory improves air flow underneath the car, it works for racing cars, (F1, le mans)
unfortunatelly it wont do s..t evos, but it looks cool i guess

It's certainly in the pipeline. But it's behind a few other, more pressing, products. It'll come after our sway bar, camber plates and XFlash ECU remap.

MODERATORS: Can this be moved to suspension?
If the diffuser works or not really depends on the current underbody airflow. As in the article I posted earlier, where is the Center of Pressure? Without knowing the CoP how does anyone know rather or not a diffuser is even needed?
If you really want to mix things up, wonder what happens once you add an aftermarket front end like the Gialla setup?

For one there is a huge catch in the rear bumper that air gets trapped by on the Evo. a panel their may not help downforce a lot, but it will lessen drag. I prefer this to the civic hatchback drag method of cutting holes in the bumper to let the air through.

I am a big believer of DIY. Why noy cut some metal out and go to a muffler shop and tell them to weld them on if SHIV isnt doing any true wind tunnel testing. IF would seem to be just as effective to just copy what the diffuser looks like and weld them in.

remember reading an article for JGTC race cars
the whole rear diffuser really only comes into play assuming the underbody of the car is completely 'flat' .. the flat underside creates a channel for air to run toward the rear which in combination with rear diffuser and rear spoiler ... ... ... which is very uhmm impractical for street cars ...
the entire car had to be windtunneled over and over again to create the perfect combination to maximize downforce ..
soo slapping on some fins underneath your rear bumper isn't going to suck your car down onto the ground .... it's just for cosmetics if anything else ..

The Infiniti G35 offers this as an option.. so do quite a few other cars. Better Fuel Economy, better handling, less wind noise.. hmmmm you'd figure *all* manufacturers would be all over this as a $1000 option to make folks happy and make money on.
