Wheel shake high speed braking
Hi ive searched around on the forum a bit but couldnt find my exact problem so im just looking for a confirmation on something. For about the last week ive been having a problem with whenever im about 70mph+ on the highway if i use the brakes the wheel will shake. If i am at any speed slower than that everything works fine. I was thinking that the rotors were warped so i was just going to go ahead and change my front and rear rotors and pads because my current pads make noise occasionally but its alot of money for all that so im just looking to see if you guys feel the same way about the problem. Thanks in advance

how are your tires. i know this might sound weird but the moment i changed my bald advans this shaking went away. the whole front end of the car would jutter when braking from 120. When i changed the tires the shaking went away. I even checked if the rotors were warped at ATX in jersey and they said they were fine. I was stumped and didnt know what to think of. BTW my advans had 19k on them so i kinda put more miles than recommended. Maybe thats why they were shaking.

Could be pad material build up or rotors are too thin. "Warping" is the pulsing you are feeling as the pads go over material that has built up on the rotor surface. And if they are too thin (have them spec'd - the min thickness is on the rotor hat) you can heat up the rotors and they will deform due to the heat.
What pads do you have on there now?
PS - not too expensive. Check out RotorPro rotors (275 for all 4) and you can get great deals on Hawk HPS pads (something like 160 for a set). If you want more bite get DS2500 pads. Should be around 400-500 for everything.

Pad deposits are uneven, cutting the rotors only makes them thinner and more likely to warp.
