Rotor issue..ok to swap rotors and keep old pads?

I was getting a slight squeek from my breaks and figured it was time for a change. I swapped out the pads for some new hawks about a week ago and since then the noise has grown louder by the day. It is not a constant, it gorws with speed and on the highwat it is just a high pitched squeel. The only thing I can think of is the lip that was formed on the outer edge of the rotor is hitting something inside the caliper. I do not think it is warped since there is no vibration in the steering wheel.

Is it ok to swap out just the rotors and keep the week old pads?

Any suggestions on rotors, I was going to get the Brembo slotted replacements. i am not certain how to do the wap either so if anyone has any advice and if I need certain tools please let me know.

By the way, I drive an Evo IX, not a WRX. the name is old.

Thanks.

check the baking plate you might have bent it and its making contact with the rotor

When I lightly break I can get it to make a nice really high pitched squeel. if I brake hard the noise becomes a low grind sound.

I don't know how I would have. it started one day out of the blue, I had not touched anything in that area of the car for over a month or longer, since I put on the summers.

Thanks for the input!

My main concern is if the pads will take on the shape of the current rotors and transfer any problems to the new rotors or will they just wear down and be fine.

you will be fine changing the rotors out but you have to watch with the hawk pads if you search on here there are hundreds of posts of people with brand new hawk pads that squeek uncontrollably i just put i set on my car and within a week i took them off because i couldnt stand the squeeking

You and I it sounds have had the same issues. I'm 100% sure that you need to change your rotors. The lip on your rotor is causin the noise even though you do have new pads, and also go ahead and use your hawk pads. 1 week will not hurt anything. My buddies evo had the same problem, I changed his pads and rotors and it was perfect. Good luck.
